Why Tough as Nails?
He was a double-kidney transplant when I met him. We got to know each other on a church singles' camping weekend - where he was one of the leaders for our hike... Actually, it began a few weeks before that, in a singles prayer circle. I was upset about something that my daughter was going through, and David was sitting next to me. As I was letting the teardrops fall, he reached over and very gently patted my knee, as if to say, it's going to be OK. I didn't even know his name...
But soon after that, as we were preparing for an overnight hike to Strawberry, AZ (Fossil Creek), he sold me my first pair of hiking boots. After the hike, he took me home because he lived closer than anyone else. That was the beginning of our friendship and our quest toward health and prosperity. When we got married eight months later, little did we know we were in for 20 years of hills and valleys!
But Life is all Good, and God is better!!
